Meet Dr. Kulish-Avery

Dr. Andrea Kulish-Avery is the founder and owner of Strong Start Psychological Services, PLLC. She is a Clinical Psychologist with specialization in early childhood mental health. Dr. Kulish-Avery is committed to supporting parents and caregivers of young children in providing a strong start for their child. Her expertise includes assessment and early intervention for neurodevelopmental and behavioral health concerns experienced by young children, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), developmental delay, anxiety, behavior concerns (e.g., sleep, feeding, toileting, aggression/non-compliance), trauma/adjustment, and relationship/attachment difficulties. She is passionate about serving all communities, including the Hispanic community, and offers services in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Kulish-Avery earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and is a Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina. She completed her predoctoral internship in Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Early Childhood Mental Health at Nemours Children’s Health in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Kulish-Avery also received training within the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program through the University of Delaware.  Dr. Kulish-Avery has provided psychological services across a variety of settings including pediatric primary care, community mental health clinics, public schools, Delaware’s Birth to Three Autism Spectrum Disorder program, and medical specialty clinics  (e.g., Child Development Clinics, NICU Follow-up Clinic) within Children’s Hospitals.
