You have a right to a good faith estimate of what your services will cost.
The federal No Surprises Act went into effect on January 1st, 2022, and it provides protection against “surprise billing.” Strong Start Psychological Services, PLLC, provides notice consistent with the No Surprises Act to all self-pay clients (i.e., clients who will not be using insurance for the service and/or clients who have an insurance carrier that is out-of-network with Strong Start Psychological Services). In these cases, the client will be responsible for paying the full amount in the ‘good faith estimate’ provided during the scheduling part of the evaluation process. Given that testing for self-pay services is billed at a flat rate, billing surprises are unlikely to occur. The ‘good faith estimate’ is only an estimate. Actual services and charges may differ from the estimate. If an invoice is $400 higher than the ‘good faith estimate’, the law provides a process for disputing the invoice within 120 days.
